When I started TryCleaning, the hardest part was never finding clients. It was finding the right people. Our whole industry runs on high turnover and a reputation for unreliable staff, and I wanted to build the opposite. It starts with one question we ask about every single applicant:
Would I let this person clean in my own home?
It sounds obvious, but it rules out most applicants straight away. Not because they are bad people, but because a cleaner in someone's home is trusted with private spaces, personal belongings and the comfort of a family. That takes a kind of care and discretion you cannot fake, and cannot teach.
Character first, then real training
Every team member holds an up to date police check, which we are happy to show any client on request. But a clean record is the floor, not the standard. What sets someone apart is how they treat a space when no one is watching.
Once someone passes that bar, they earn their place through our Training Academy. New recruits work through our online training modules and have to pass the exams before they become a cleaner, not after. Then it moves into real homes: hands on, supervised training alongside an experienced cleaner, so the theory meets the reality of an actual kitchen and bathroom.
They keep earning it
Cleaners move up through our tier system as they prove their skill and reliability, and even experienced staff get the occasional surprise spot check. Standards do not hold themselves. People do.
Why this matters to you
When you book with TryCleaning you are not getting whoever happened to be free that day. You are getting someone who passed our standard, trained through our academy, and who we would trust in our own home. We are fully insured with NRMA, and every clean carries our 24 hour guarantee: if something is not right, tell us within a day and we come back and put it right. That is what bespoke actually means.
